HOLLY VOLZ
Holly Haines Volz is a twenty-three year veteran of the fire service, joining the department in 1986 at age nineteen. Throughout her career she has been a combat firefighter in her cities busiest engine houses. In 1989 she joined the Hazardous Materials Team following that with a promotion to Captain in operations. In 1992 she worked for Professional Track Services which provided fire and rescue protection for the International Hot Rod Association. In 2003 Holly passed the assessment center for the rank of Battalion Chief and has spent several years developing a Human Relations Committee for her department. She met and married firefighter Tom Volz in 1998 and they have a seven-year-old son, Logan. Holly has written a memoir, Going In, which chronicles her life as a female inside the engine house.

THOMAS VOLZ
Thomas Volz has committed thirteen years of service to the Fort Wayne Fire Department. While earning a Purdue University Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, he had concentrated on creative writing and anthropology courses. He and his wife Holly (also a firefighter) have been married since September of 1998. On July 27, 2001, they welcomed their son Logan into the world. Thomas focuses primarily on his Chad Haines thrillers. He has recently ventured out into the arena of screenplays where he has worked on adaptations of two of his novels and a few separate original storylines.
